Strokes Art Exhibition 2017 inaugurated in city

Pune: Many children participated in the 7th Art exhibition 2017 organised by Strokes Art workshop and Sakal Times at Balgandharva Rangmandir on Monday. Students also demonstrated live art to the audience on Monday in front of the dignitaries.

Speaking during the inauguration, Chief Guest Raosaheb Gurav, former Principal at Abhinav College at Pashan, who is also an artist, said that it is great to see young children make such good use of this platform.

“Art can give a vision to the young generation and formulate perspectives. We need to motivate children to not only indulge in art but also learn to appreciate it so that they can live a more meaning life. The great renowned writer, PL Deshpande, has said that art gives a deeper meaning to life,” said Gurav.

Assistant Director of Sahitya Foundation Adwait Joshi also said that art is a bridge between the past and the way ahead in the future.

“We have Shaniwarwada in Pune. It is a heritage site and yet it conveys the history to all of us in such a strong manner.

Similarly, art is something that connects to the past as well as the future and giving it to children, is more wonderful as they use their imagination and creatively,” said Joshi.

Speaking to Sakal Times, Chetan Pansare, Founder of Strokes Foundation said that the foundation has more than 150 students.

“This is a platform for school and college going students. And we want more and more children to express through art and hence, the live demo is by children. We will start an NGO soon and advocate many activities through it like that of eco-friendly Ganpati. We will also be giving art education to around 500 children from underprivileged families for promoting more and more indulgence in extracurricular activities and help in overall personality development,” said Pansare.

Deepak Mankar, former Deputy Mayor and Snehal Kulkarni, co-founder of Strokes Foundation, were also present during the inauguration.
