State Board releases rules for sports quota

PUNE: After a recently released Government Resolution (GR) by the State government, the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE) has incorporated the changes regarding extra marks given for sports and NCC/Scout and Guide.

The Board has given out instructions to the students appearing for Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examinations to submit applications and documents accordingly.

The Board has instructed that students, who have played a sport in the age-group of 14 to 16 years, that is anytime from Std VI to X, at district, divisional, state, national or international level, will be awarded extra marks for sports. The sports certificate needs to mention in which class the student played the particular sport.

The students, who have played in the age group below 18 years, will be eligible for sports marks in Std XII Board examination, and similarly, the students will also have to mention the class in which he/she played.

The circular released by the Board also mentions that while there is a quota for the students with excellence in sports for admissions to Std XI, only the students with international level participation will be considered for the same.

NEW RULES
Even if the student has participated in the sports earlier, he/she will have to be playing in Std X and XII also so as to avail of the sports marks in SSC and HSC examinations.
