State approves Rs 128 cr subsidy for dairy projects

PUNE: The State government has approved the pending subsidy amount of Rs 128 crore for 42 dairy projects across the State.

The State had also released a Government Resolution (GR) regarding it on February 13.

When the international rates of Skimmed Milk Powder (SMP) and white butter had dropped, the State government had decided to pay subsidy to dairies from August 2018 to April 2019.

The State government has paid a subsidy of Rs 5 per litre from August 2018 till January 2019, which they further reduced to Rs 3 per litre from February to April 2019. However, once the international rates of SMP and butter increased in the market, the State government decided to stop the subsidy from May 1.

However, 42 dairy projects in the State did not receive the subsidy amount from February 2019 till April 2019, which has now been approved and will be released soon.

“There are 42 dairy projects in the State whose subsidy amounts have been pending. Out of this, 22 are in Pune division, 18 in Nashik division and two are in Aurangabad division. The amount has now been approved by the State government and it will be soon disbursed once the procedure and formalities are done,” said an official from the Dairy Commissionerate.
