SPPUs UPSC Preparation Course Gets Huge Response

PUNE: A three-year integrated course introduced by the Competitive Examination Centre (CEC) of Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) for Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) aspirants of undergraduate (UG) level has received a huge response. 

The number of takers for this course has surpassed the number of intake capacity. 

At present, around 51 students have taken admission for this course, whereas the varsity administration had set the intake capacity of 40 seats initially. 

The course was introduced with an intention to increase the number of Maharashtrian students seeking ranks in the UPSC merit list.

So far, the Savitribai Phule Pune University is offering a one-year programme for post-graduate students. 

This new course caters to the students, who are in their second year of undergraduate programme.

The students will be given intense training in paper solving and polishing of communication skills. 

Also, the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT)-based syllabus in political science, history, geography, social science, psychology will be conducted. 

Besides, e-learning kits for students will also be provided. The fees for the course will be Rs 40,000 per year.

“The programme has been introduced to enable students to decide if they want to appear for competitive exams in the first year itself so that from the second year, they can start preparing for it. Fifty one students have taken admissions this time and the first batch will begin from December,” said Professor at Competitive Examination Centre, Chitranjan Das.
