SPPU signs MoU with MCCIA and Vodafone

PUNE: To strengthen the industrial and skill-based training among students, Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Mahratta Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Agriculture (MCCIA) and Vodafone Foundation now. 

Students and teachers of commerce and business studies will get an opportunity to seek training in these industries. 

Vice-Chancellor of SPPU Nitin Karmalkar and President of MCCIA Pramod Chaudhari were present to sign the MoU between SPPU and MCCIA. Pro-VC NS Umarani, Registrar Arvind Shaligram, Director General of MCCIA Anant Sardeshmukh, Academic Council Member of SPPU Uday Gujjar and Chair of Commerce Department Prafulla Pawar were present at the event. 

Under the memorandum between SPPU and Vodafone Foundation, signed by Registrar Arvind Shaligram, Head of Computer Science Department Sanjay Dhole and Chief of Vodafone Nilam Ranjan, students will learn about links, server and cloud management. 

SPPU stated this will benefit students who are interested in learning such subjects. To support this, SPPU has built a ‘centre for excellence’ with Vodafone equipment in the Computer Science Department. 

“Students will get industrial training in skill-based activities which will help them to source income in the future. They will get an internship opportunity. Moreover, even the university will understand what are the current needs of industries and accordingly with the help of experts the syllabus can be formed,” said Karmalkar.
