SPPU to set up research centre in Ladakh region
Vice-Chancellor Dr Nitin Karmalkar said that Namgyal has suggested five research subjects related to the environment, tourism, hot spring water and Buddhist (Pali) language also.
PUNE: BJP MP from Ladakh, Jamyang Tsering Namgyal, after his meeting with Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) Vice-Chancellor Dr Nitin Karmalkar on Wednesday, said that the SPPU will set up a research centre in Ladakh.
Namgyal was in Pune for the inaugural ceremony of ‘Pune-Ladakh Building Future Together’ programme at Balgandharva auditorium. MP Girish Bapat, V-C Karmalkar, National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) member Dr Dnyaneshwar Mulay and other dignitaries were also present. Namgyal further said,
“After the abrogation of Article 370 and 35 A, now investment can happen in Ladakh. Several people are interested in exploring Ladakh and they are contacting us. Abundant resources are available in Ladakh.”
“Those who want to explore are most welcome and those who want to exploit should be discouraged,” Namgyal said.
The first-time BJP MP also said that Narendra Modi has given a message of a plastic ban but this initiative is being implemented in Ladakh from the past 20 years.
