SPPU committees formed to resolve issues a failure
“There have been two meetings regarding the issue of financial irregularities in Earn and Learn till now, and we have asked the committee for a report on the same." said SPPU Registrar Dr Prafulla Pawar.
PUNE: The Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) recently appointed a committee to look into the irregularities in the Karmaveer Bhaurao Patil Earn-and-Learn Programme. Recently, a few financial irregularities were spotted in the remuneration given to the students under the programme at SPPU.
However, in the past few months, it was observed that the university has only been forming several committees, but there has been no outcome on their part.
The new committee regarding the ‘Earn and Learn’ programme is presided over by former vice-chancellor (VC) Dr Arun Adsul and the report by the committee is expected to be received within three weeks.
“There have been two meetings regarding the issue of financial irregularities in Earn and Learn till now, and we have asked the committee for a report on the same. The report of the refectory issue committee is expected in this week, while the Law paper leak committee has already presented its report to the University. The decision regarding what action needs to be taken in the matter will soon be made,” said SPPU Registrar Dr Prafulla Pawar.
ONLY COMMITTEES, NO REPORTS
- In February, a committee was appointed to look into the leak of question paper for a Law examination. A re-examination was conducted.
- SPPU VC Dr Nitin Karmalkar also appointed a final committee of Management Council members in this regard. Three months have passed with no final report being submitted.
- Another committee was established to look into the matter of the protests at the refectory at SPPU. Former VC of Kavayitri Bahinabai Chaudhari North Maharashtra Jalgaon University Dr RS Mali presided over the committee in the first week of April. The committee was to give its report within 10 days, but no clarification has been made public till now.
