PUNE: In a major move to streamline the admissions and academic processes, the Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) has decided to conduct the Online Entrance Examination (OEE) for all postgraduate and undergraduate level courses on the university campus from the academic year 2019-20. However, admissions to all diploma and certificate courses will be conducted offline by the respective departments.
ENTRANCE TO A NUMBER OF COURSES IN ONLINE MODE
Over 80 postgraduate and undergraduate level courses are taught on the SPPU campus. From the academic year 2019-20, admissions to all these courses will be based on merit in the entrance exam and almost all of them will follow the OEE pattern, stated the university’s official release.
The admissions to over 70 diploma and certificate courses, will be held by the respective departments through the offline mode.
This year, the OEE will be conducted in either the first or second week of June. The detailed schedule of the OEE and the online application process will be announced shortly, said Uttam Chavan, deputy registrar of PG admissions, SPPU.
ACCESSIBLE TO A LARGER AUDIENCE
The OEE will be conducted in several major cities in Maharashtra and metro cities across India. “This will not only expand the reach of the admission process of the university but also help students to give the examination at a place more convenient to them. The OEE will streamline the entire process from the stage of application to admission to the students’ desired courses and hostel placements,” read the official notice.
MULTIPLE CHOICE QUESTIONS
The OEE will be based on multiple choice questions and will consist of two sections. The first section of 20 marks will be based on logic, comprehension and general aptitude. The second section of 80 marks will be based on the subject-specific knowledge required for the admission to the respective course.
