SPPU’s innovation & incubation centre invites business proposals from start-ups

PUNE: The Centre for Innovation, Incubation and Linkages (CIIL) at the Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) has invited proposals for incubation from start-ups having unique business proposals in different areas like electric mobility, AgriTech, big data, material science, environment tech, edu technology and social sector. 

The opportunity is open for all final year students of SPPU, alumni, any grassroots innovator or offshoot of an existing company. Applications should be sent in the prescribed format as given on the website of the University on or before November 30 at http://iil.unipune.ac.in 

CIIL Director Apoorva Palkar said, “It is important to provide a platform to youngsters with vibrant ideas who have the potential to scale up businesses. The university wants to provide support to start-ups.” 

Shortlisted proposals will be evaluated by a jury from the industry, investors and start-up specialists. Teams selected for incubation would have access to a pool of mentors, legal, legal marketing and advice on financial matters. A working space will also be provided to the selected teams. The teams will also have access to all start-up-related training programmes and access to seed funding, based on their performance as decided by the jury from time to time. 

“The focus of the university is to build start-ups in the area of electric mobility, big data, IoT environment technology, and social entrepreneurship. We would like the youth to be employment providers,” SPPU Vice-Chancellor Dr Nitin Karmalkar said. 

Presently, SPPU’s CIIL has 11 start-up companies in its start-up centre and has received a grant from the Maharashtra State Innovation Society. 

CIIL has signed MoU’s with TiE, KPIT Sparkle, Pune Smart City SPV and receives desired industry support for start-ups. It has also initiated a start-up club in the university, online courses for start-ups and 200 plus colleges have actively set up start-up innovations cells under CIIL at the university.
