Spl sessions for sports enthusiasts at Sancheti Inst

PUNE: Sancheti Institute for Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation has organised special sessions for cricket enthusiasts, runners and cyclists.

Sessions started from Thursday and will continue till Saturday. Experts from the US, the UK and Sancheti Hospital are guiding participants on aspects related to sports injuries and treatments.

Chairman and Managing Director of Sancheti Institute of Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation Dr Parag Sancheti said that Sancheti Hospitals has organised a workshop for doctors on ‘Lower Limb Dysfunction’ where experts are guiding the participants and providing hands-on training. “To extend the benefits of international experts to sports enthusiasts and common people, we have organised these sessions,” he said.

Dr Apurv Shimpi, Head Community Physiotherapy Department, Sancheti Healthcare Academy, said that injuries are common while playing outdoors.  

“But people should know when to approach the doctor to get back on track early. These sessions will provide appropriate guidance on when to approach the doctor for treatment, what symptoms to watch out for and the appropriate treatment,” said Dr Shimpi.

SESSION TIMETABLE
- Dr Anand Gangwal, sports physiotherapist and Iron Man, and Dr Madhan Ramanathan, sports physiotherapist, UK will conduct the session on ‘Injury Prevention and Performance Optimisation in cycling’ on January 17 between 7 pm and 8 pm.
- Dr Madhan Ramanathan, Sussex County Cricket, UK, Dr Anil Bhave, USA and Dr Apurv Shimpi will conduct the session on ‘Injury Prevention and Performance Optimisation in cricket’ on January 18 between 7 pm and 8 pm.
