Society residents wait for approach road for five years

Pune: Over 220 flat owners of Shriniwas Serene County Phase 2 Cooperative Housing Society near Dhayari Phata are facing issues as the DP Road which was assured by the builder, Darode Jog Properties, is yet to be built.

Over 50 residents of the society reached the office of Darode Jog Properties on Apte Road on Monday demanding a solution to the problem. As per Omkar Paranjape, treasurer of the society, the issue of building the 30-metre DP Road was pending for five years. The residents are currently using another private road of an adjacent society.

“The project started in 2008 and we received possession of our property in 2013. The builder had assured us of the DP Road, which was to be our access road. Currently, we have to use the approach road from another society, for which we are being asked to pay maintenance amount. The builder had assured us that the DP Road will be developed, but for five years we have received no response from the civic body or the builder,” added Paranjape.

Residents of the society said that as the DP Road is yet to be built, they have problems in accessing public and private transport. A woman resident of the society, who was present at the office of the builder, said, “Senior citizens of the society have to walk to reach the main road. Moreover, no cabs and autorickshaw are ready to come inside our society.”

Namdev Ghamibre, Deputy Engineer of the Building Permission and Development Department, said, “Shriniwas Serene County Phase 2 residents are facing problems due to no approach road. The corporation has proposed a road in the development plan (DP), but it is yet to be developed, which is forcing the residents to use another private society’s road to reach their society. Now, the private society has started asking for maintenance money from them to use the approach road. The corporation cannot intervene in the issue as it is a private society road. We have decided to make a road under the special powers of the municipal commissioner to provide them an approach road as the proposed DP Road will take more time to develop.”

As the private society has threatened residents of Shriniwas Serene County Phase 2 with closure of access to their road, the residents of Shriniwas Serene County Phase 2 will now approach the PMC to find a solution.

Sudhir Darode of Darode Jog Properties said that they will try to solve the issue along with the PMC and the private society.

“Currently, the residents of Shriniwas Serene County Phase 2 are using the approach road of Shriniwas Serene County Phase 1. I have been informed that the phase 1 society is demanding money for usage of the road from residents of phase 2. I have scheduled a meeting to solve the issue through dialogue. Meanwhile, we will also approach the corporation to look at the progress on the proposed DP road,” said Darode.
