Smart Cities showcase concludes

PUNE: ‘Invest India - Smart Cities Mission Technology Showcase’ hosted by the Pune Smart City Development Corporation (PSCDCL) in the city on Friday concluded successfully. During this one-day event, various start-ups pitched their technologies to the PSCDCL, which will adopt those solutions based on their needs. 

The start-ups presented their technologies in four areas to solve problems faced by cities at the event. Invest India is the National Investment Promotion and Facilitation Agency of India, set up as a non-profit agency under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry. Two of the Central government’s flagship initiatives that are also executed by Invest India are AGNIi and StartUp India. 

The four broad areas which have been identified are Traffic Management and Transport, Water-Sanitation and Solid Waste Management, Safety-Surveillance and Security, Health and Education.

Invest India has worked with the Smart Cities Mission to identify the pressing problems faced by cities. Invest India has identified market-deployable technological solutions from start-ups to deliver relevant solutions to Smart Cities.

The Mission Director of the Smart Cities Mission and the Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs Kunal Kumar, Chief Executive Officer of Pune Smart City Rajendra Jagtap, Invest India’s Rahul Nair, CEOs of 15 other Smart Cities, Deputy Commissioner of Traffic Police Pankaj Deshmukh, Manojit Bose and representatives of various organisations, officials were present.

PSCDCL signs MoU with Dell for Center of Excellence
Pune Smart City signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU)  with Dell for a Centre of Excellence. Four rounds of pitch sessions by start-ups were organised. The signing of a Letter of Intent between Smart Cities and shortlisted start-ups for pilot opportunity was hosted and MoU between Smart Cities Mission and Invest India was also signed.

Delivering his address, Kunal Kumar, Mission Director, Smart Cities Mission, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, said, “Technology will redefine the way people live and work in India. The Smart Cities Mission, under the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, will be at the forefront of this transformation. Invest India, through AGNIi and StartUp India, is at the forefront of curating technologies from the entire Indian innovation ecosystem.”
