SHM demands better teaching at PMC-run schools
Shikshan Hakka Manch has demanded formation of flying squads to visit the PMC schools and keep a check on the teaching and learning process there.
PUNE: City-based Shikshan Hakka Manch (SHM) on Tuesday protested outside the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) headquarters to protest against the deteriorating quality of education at PMC-run schools.
“Despite being sanctioned a budget of Rs 400 crore, the quality of education at several PMC schools is not up to the mark. As the supervisors at these schools are not taking up their responsibility efficiently, several students at these government-run schools have been deprived of good quality education,” said Shikshan Hakka Manch President Matin Mujawar.
Mujawar handed over a letter of demands to the Pune Municipal Commissioner regarding improving education at the PMC-run schools.
“I have seen that many PMC schools do not have principals. We also found that several students from Class V to VII could not perform basic mathematical calculations. Most of the schools have no remedial classes,” Mujawar added.
The Manch has demanded formation of flying squads to visit the PMC schools and keep a check on the teaching and learning process there.
