Pune: Former DGP of Maharashtra and Punjab SS Virk on Tuesday said that there are several challenges to India’s security such as terrorism, Kashmir insurgency, Naxal issue, right-wing terror, drugs menace, banking frauds etc.
He was interacting with media persons at Patrakar Sangh at an interaction organised by Pune Union of Working Journalists (PUWJ). He further said that Maharashtra police are known for doing good homework and acting on evidence. Speaking about the arrest of activists he said, “They seem to have some documents but these have not been authenticated yet.”
Virk also said that the police should not have conducted the press conference (in Elgar Parishad case) without having obtained permission from the court. He also said that there is a need to be vigilant about cyber crimes.
