Pune: The Institute of Sports Science & Technology (ISST) conducted a seminar on Saturday on careers in sports management, sports sciences and fitness at Dr Kalmadi Shamarao High School Auditorium in Kothrud.
The seminar was attended by eminent guest like Harvindar Kaur Sahni, Chief Financial Officer of Rajasthan Royals Indian Premier League franchise, Madhukar Talwalkar, Founder of Talwalkars Gyms, Abhimanyu Sable, Founder and Managing Director of Abs Fitness & Wellness Clubs, Tejas Goradia, Vice President of FC Pune City Indian Super League franchise and Kailash Kandpal, CEO of Puneri Paltan Pro Kabaddi League franchise and gave their respective talks and presentations on careers in sports and fitness.
Sahni, Goradia, and Kandpal said that numerous jobs have been created in the sports industry with the exponential growth of professional leagues, sports infrastructure, private clubs or academies positive government policies. They highlighted the need for formal education in sports management and sciences and the way education has profound importance in the growing sports industry. With these top leagues taking the front seat in shaping the sports culture in India, the demand for educated professionals has increased.
Talwalkar and Sabale highlighted the point that fitness industry goes hand in hand with sports.
They spoke about the growth in the fitness sector and the way the fitness have changed lives into a healthy life. Moreover, they also mentioned that the demand for educated fitness professionals will be high as the fitness industry is set to contribute a substantial share to India’s GDP in the coming years.
Ujwala Lunawat, Chairperson of ISST, Vipul Lunawat, Director of ISST and Maj Gaurav Godbole, COO of ISST were also present. The event was attended by an enthusiastic 200 plus audience and was well received as this is the first time in India where experts from top sports leagues in the country were present on a single platform to speak about the growing scope of sports and fitness industry.
