Schools in Pune, PCMC areas to be shut

PUNE: Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Friday, announced that schools in Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad areas will remain shut till further orders. 

However, the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) & Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) exams will continue as per schedule, he said.

Divisional Commissioner Dr Deepak Mhaisekar has instructed the schools to follow the orders and has asked students and parents to stay put. 

After Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray declared holidays for schools in Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad, schools are waiting for the government order on when to postpone their examinations, or whether to conduct them or not.

“We were in the middle of conducting oral examinations at our schools. Our examinations have been scheduled from March 30 to April 11. Our syllabus for the academic year has been covered,” Modern School Principal Satish Gavali said.

DES English School Principal Smita Kulkarni added, “As far as primary school students are concerned, we are not even sure yet if examinations are to be conducted for our students. We are waiting for the government decision on the same.”

SENATE MEET POSTPONED
Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) has postponed its senate meeting which was scheduled on March 14. The university hasn’t notified on keeping the colleges shut.
