Since the Ganesh festival celebrations in Sangli and Kolhapur are low key this year as the recent floods caused heavy destruction and disruption of day-to-day lives, the Pune-based Rudragarjana Dhol Tasha Pathak has provided an opportunity to around 50 dhol tasha players from flood-affected areas of Sangli to perform during the visarjan (immersion) procession in Pune on Thursday.

Pune: Since the Ganesh festival celebrations in Sangli and Kolhapur are low key this year as the recent floods caused heavy destruction and disruption of day-to-day lives, the Pune-based Rudragarjana Dhol Tasha Pathak has provided an opportunity to around 50 dhol tasha players from flood-affected areas of Sangli to perform during the visarjan (immersion) procession in Pune on Thursday.

The players will be part of Kasba Ganpati Mandal and Hutatma Babu Genu Mandal’s processions.

Dhol tasha pathaks are one of the unique elements of the Ganesh festival across Maharashtra.

To honour the dhol tasha players who take a lot of effort to learn and practice the art, Rudragarjana has decided to let them participate in this year’s immersion procession in Pune.
