Sambhiji Bhide needs to be tested for mental stability: Ajit Pawar

PUNE: Speaking at a programme in the city on Saturday, former deputy chief minister of the state Ajit Pawar, said that the way Sambhaji Bhide of the Shiv pratishtan Hindustan is making statements like eating mangoes from his orchard helps couples have children, makes one think that he needs a mental check up. He also attacked the government for its handling of the Maratha Morcha.

He was speaking at a programme organised on the occasion of Guru Purnima. He said, “Earlier, ‘Guruji’, or teachers, used to hold a respectable place in the village. But because of people like Sambhaji Bhide Guruji, one wonders if their aim is now to create enmity between communities,” adding, “Because of his statements like Mangoes from his orchards being helpful to couples in bearing children, one also thinks that he needs a mental health check-up to see if he is sane.”

The NCP strongman also said that the government had failed at handling the Maratha morchas. He said, “The Maratha morchas are a reflection of the anger in the community. These morchas have no leadership. In such a situation, if those in power make irresponsible statements the one made by CM Devendra Fadnavis about some elements planning to create chaos in the Wari by spreading rumours about snakes,” adding, “If the government has any proof regarding such a plan as they claim, they should show it to the people and let the reality come to the fore.”
