Pune: To commemorate the festive spirit of Ganeshotsav with communal harmony and patriotism, Seva Mitra Mandal Trust, along with Khadak Police Station, organised a Sadbhavana Rally of Ganesh devotees, along with disabled soldiers from Paraplegic Centre on Sunday.
“We have been organising this rally for the past four years and each year, the number of participants increases. This year, we had around 600 participants,” Shirish Mohite of Seva Mitra Mandal Trust said.
The trust felicitated soldiers Darshankumar, N Upendran, Amol Goriwale, SM Rao and BK Giri.
The family members of Mumbai martyr Vilas Shinde, Bhiwandi martyr Balasaheb Gangurde and Ramesh Jagtap were also felicitated at the rally.
Mohite added that Ganesh devotees from both faiths participated in the felicitation of the soldiers. “The rally began in Guruwar Peth and went through the residential areas where people belonging to both the religions live. Soldiers were felicitated at the Ganesh Mandals, Masjids and Dargahs on the route. We felicitated five soldiers this time.” The rally concluded at the office of Seva Mitra Mandal Trust in Shukrawar Peth.
Assistant Police Commissioner Bajirao Mohite, Senior Police Inspector Raghunath Jadhav, Senior Police Inspector of Khadak Police Station Rajendra Mokashi, Police Inspector Sambhaji Shirke, Vishnu Kesarkar, Vaibhav Pawar, Sanjay Gaikwad, Kalyani Padole, Mangesh Nangare, Sagar Kekan, Hazrat Razashaha Dargah Masjid Trust’s trustee Moulana Shabeeh Ahsan Kazim and Advocate Shirish Shinde were present on the
occasion.
