Ruling alliance cannot proceed without consulting Sena: Gorhe

Pune: MLC Neelam Gorhe, on Monday, in a veiled reference to city BJP leaders, said that with her selection as the Shiv Sena party whip, it was easier for her to reach the chief minister, which might put some in a difficult position.

“With my selection as ‘Party Whip’, it is easy to reach Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. It might put some in a difficult and awkward position but it has made us stronger in the State Assembly,” she told media persons after her felicitation in the city by Pune city Shiv Sena unit.

Taking potshots without naming anyone, Gorhe said, “The bureaucrats and minister of state are now answerable to me. Many times, crucial meetings take place in the Mantralaya, but we do not come to know about it. But with this post, the party position will be strong, besides it will give us easy access to the CM. It won’t be easy for the alliance to go ahead with a decision without consulting the party henceforth.”

Being the first woman from Maharashtra to get this position, Gorhe said, “I am grateful to party President Uddhav Thackeray, CM Fadnavis and other people for selecting me for this post. I can tell party members about bills, ordinances that have come into effect. I can push for implementation of pending decisions.”

She added, “I am glad the Kopardi case accused were convicted by a fast-track court. The conviction rate of the state has increased to 56% as compared to that in the Congress-NCP rule in the state. We should have more Criminal Crime Tracking Networking Systems. These days the types of crimes are changing.”

Gorhe was felicitated by Pune Shiv Sena party chief and former MLA Mahadev Babar and Chandrakant Mokate at a small function.

Maharashtra Kesari Abhijeet Katke was also felicitated on the occasion.
