“The checks will involve detailed investigations of different aspects such as whether the required modifications have been made in school transport vehicles besides background verifications of drivers and conductors. It is the responsibility of schools, transporters and even parents to make sure that everything is in place,” said Sagre.

PUNE: With schools closed for the summer vacations, Pune Regional Transport Office (RTO) will begin checking school buses and will give them fitness certificates. The fitness tests will be conducted on Saturday.

Deputy RTO Vinod Sagre said, “Before the start of summer vacation, we want all the school buses to be fit for the roads. We will give the fitness certificates after the buses clear various levels of fitness. The fitness checks of all the buses will begin on Saturday. We have called the schools whose fitness certificates are expiring in June.”

“The checks will involve detailed investigations of different aspects such as whether the required modifications have been made in school transport vehicles besides background verifications of drivers and conductors. It is the responsibility of schools, transporters and even parents to make sure that everything is in place,” said Sagre.

The manual appointment for the checks was accepted before May 22 as a special slot has been created for school bus fitness tests on Saturday, he added.
