PUNE: A total of Rs 36 lakh cash and gold ornaments weighing 100 gram were seized by Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), Pune unit, from a Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) mukadam’s (supervisor) house, who was caught taking bribe of Rs 500 on Saturday.

The ACB informed a special court on Sunday that a night-long search led to the recovery of Rs 36 lakh cash and gold ornaments from the accused person’s house.

The court has remanded the accused Sunil Ramprakash Sharma (55) and labourer Gopi Machhindra Ubale (32) to police custody till January 22.

Both of them were posted with Vadgaon Sheri-Nagar Road ward office.

The duo was arrested by Anti-Corruption Bureau for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 500 from a coconut vendor for not taking action against him. They had demanded Rs 1,000 bribe, however, after negotiation, the amount was reduced.

The ACB has appealed people to approach them if any government employee demands a bribe from them.
