Rains to continue in State till August 13

PUNE: Pune on Friday received short spells of rainfall while witnessing sunlight on a few occasions during the day. Isolated heavy rainfall has been predicted on August 10 in Konkan and Goa and some parts of central Maharashtra. 

Thereafter, the rainfall is predicted at a few places in central Maharashtra and Vidarbha till August 13, said the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

Fairly widespread to widespread rainfall with isolated heavy to very heavy falls are very likely over Gujarat till August 11 and in southwest Madhya Pradesh, south Rajasthan, South Konkan and Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Karnataka and Kerala till August 10. 

According to IMD, isolated extremely heavy falls are also very likely over some parts of southwest Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, south-east Rajasthan, Kerala, coastal Karnataka and ghat areas of south interior Karnataka and Tamil Nadu till August 10.

According to IMD, the Southwest Monsoon has been vigorous over west Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat region, Madhya Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, interior Karnataka and Kerala and it has been active over Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, east Rajasthan, east Madhya Pradesh, Konkan and Goa, Vidarbha and coastal Karnataka. However, the rainfall has been subdued over Arunachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab and Rayalaseema.

The depression has moved west-northwestwards from north Chhattisgarh and neighbouring areas. It is very likely to continue to move west-northwestwards and weaken gradually into a well-marked low-pressure area till August 10 evening.
