Railway passengers group raises issues at DRUCC meeting

PUNE: The members of Railway Passengers Group demanded daily run of Pune-Ahmedabad Duronto Express and also a stoppage of Pune-Bhusaval Express and Sinhagad Express at Talegaon station in the Divisional Railway Users Consultative Committee (DRUCC) meeting on Friday. 

The meeting was chaired by Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Milind Deouskar. During the meeting, members of the group, Mahendra Jagtap, Prakash Garde, Hemant Tapale, Popat Bhagade, Baburao Sawant, Prakash Vithoba Jamdade, Krishna Aldar, Narayana Mothedesai, Popatlal Ostwal, Anand Mane and Rajendra Walkade, were present.

The members requested the DRM to run a suburban train between Lonavla and Daund; to run the local trains on time; to start a train from Miraj and Sangli; to give more stoppages of trains and to increase coaches of trains. The DRM assured them of appropriate action.

Deouskar gave details on various development works, activities, passenger amenities being carried out in Pune division. He said various works are being done at a rapid pace for the safety of passengers; maintenance is being done to strengthen tracks and signal system. Wi-Fi facility has been started at 53 stations of Pune division and new foot-overbridges have been built at Talegaon, Miraj, Manjari stations. Train indicator boards have been installed at many stations. Two new platforms of full length have been built at Kolhapur station so that more trains can be run from there. Railway administration is constantly working to improve passenger amenities. Every effort is being made to run trains on time.

The meeting was coordinated by Senior Divisional Commercial Manager (Sunil Mishra. Additional Divisional Railway Manager (ADRM) Saharsh Bajpai was also present.
