PUNE: As per the weather department, monsoon was at its peak on Saturday. As a result, Bhandara, Chandrapur, Gadchiroli, Nagpur, Wardha in Vidarbha received excess rainfall on Saturday. Konkan and Goa and Dhule, Kolhapur, Nashik, Sangli, Satara in Central Maharashtra received excess rainfall on Saturday. Pune city, however, reported light rains.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the monsoon activity may reduce slightly on September 8 and September 9. However, the reduction in rainfall activity will be significant from September 10.
Anupam Kashyapi, Head of Weather at IMD Pune said that on Saturday, rainfall at Vidarbha and Konkan and Goa was intense.
“Also, the ghat areas near Pune, Nashik, Satara and Kolhapur saw heavy rains. But from September 8, the rainfall in ghat areas will be heavy only at isolated places. Heavy rains may continue in Konkan and Goa and Vidarbha at isolated places on September 8. But the intensity will be low,” said Kashyapi.
According to weather experts, the rainfall activity may partially increase on September 14 and September 15.
“After September 10, the rainfall may reduce to light rainfall in the city. During this time, there can be a slight increase in the temperature. However, we are expecting an increase in rainfall activity in the city from September 13 until September 15,” added Kashyapi.
