Pune: Stating that her basic rights were denied and she was tortured her mentally, a 34-year-old woman has filed a complaint against her husband on charges of domestic violence, cruelty and insult for not having a physical relationship with her since she demanded to stay separate from her in laws. Wakad police have registered a case against four persons including the husband in this regard.
Based on the woman’s complaint, police have booked Shekhar Jagdish Patil (26), a resident of Ram Nagar near Kautik hotel in Rahatani near Wakad. Shekhar’s father Jagdish Patil, mother Rekha and sister Sejal have also been named in the complaint as co-accused.
The four suspects have been booked under section 498A (husband or relative of husband of a woman subjecting her to cruelty), 504 (Intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace) and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of the Indian Penal Code.
According to police, Shekhar and the complainant got married in 2018 and were staying at ‘Divine Homes’ society in Rahatni. The complainant has stated that the in laws started harassing her mentally and physically over trivial issues after they started staying together.
Frustrated over this harassment, the complainant asked her husband to move out the house and stay separately. The complainant had proposed to stay at Nanded City near Warje. However, her husband got angry over this and started abusing her. Later, the husband denied to have sexual relations with the complainant for two years.
The complainant has stated that her husband denied her basic rights by refusing to keep physical relations and tortured her mentally. Thereafter she decided to lodge a complaint against her husband on charges of domestic violence, insult and cruelty. Police Sub Inspector Ranaware from Wakad police station is investigating the case.
