Pune: Vehicle theft cases rise amid COVID-19 pandemic in Pimpri-Chinchwad

Pimpri: Vehicle thieves are rampant in the industrial city of Pimpri-Chinchwad area. During the broad daylight, three separate incidents of vehicle theft were reported.  Two 2-wheelers and one 4-wheeler parked in the parking lot of the society were stolen by unidentified thieves.

The incidents took place at Mahalunge, Sangurdi area at Purnanagar, Chinchwad which falls under the jurisdiction of the Pimpri-Chinchwad police commissionerate.

The first vehicle theft took place in front of Usain Logistics Company at Mahalunge in Khed taluka on Thursday.  The incident came to light after Dattatraya Kundlik Paulet (age 34), resident of Shiroli, Taluka Khed lodged a complaint at Chakan Police Station. The complainant had parked his two-wheeler in the parking lot near the entrance of Usain Logistics Company. He noticed his bike was missing in the evening while leaving for home.

In the second incident, a vehicle got stolen from Sangurdi Phata within the jurisdiction limits of Sangurdi village in Khed taluka on Wednesday. The incident came to light, after Ashok Trimbak Survase (30), resident of Sangurdi Fata, Yelwadi, Taluka Khed s lodged a complaint at Chakan Police Station.

The plaintiff had parked his bike in front of a shop. He then took a company bus to Nighoje. It seems, in the meantime his bike was stolen.

The third incident took place at Purnanagar, Chinchwad on Friday b. Vishal Pandharinath Dalvi (38), resident of Sai Angan Society, Purnanagar, Chinchwad has lodged a complaint at Chikhali Police Station.

The four-wheeler in the name of the plaintiff's wife was parked by him in the parking lot of his society. Unidentified thieves stole his four-wheeler worth Rs 3.73 lakh. In the car additional valuable goods estimate worth of Rs 2,000 including four-wheeler licenses, bank debit cards, cheque-books, company I Cards, drill machines, vacuum cleaners and mini compressors were stolen.
