Pune University suspends the process of filling exam forms

Pune: The Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) has temporarily suspended the process of examination form filling.

Late on Wednesday night, SPPU’s department of examination and evaluation director Mahesh Kakade notified that they have put a stay on examination form filling process against the backdrop of the University Grants Commission’s (UGC) guidelines and are awaiting notification from the Maharashtra government on the conduct of the examination.

He has asked all the SPPU affiliated colleges to inform their respective students about the same.

The director has stated that all the students will be informed about the updated status of examination and a new notification will be issued as and when the State government gives the nod.

Kakade told Sakal Times, “Thee reason we discontinued the process, is because the State government and Maharashtra governor will be deciding on when and how the examination will be held. For instance, if there is no examination, then there will be no use of form filling. Understanding the situation and to avoid any chaos, the authorities decided to suspend the process for now.”

He also informed that about 80 per cent of examination form filling was completed so far, as the process had started way before the lockdown was announced.

“Most of the programmes have completed the form filling process except for engineering, management, some postgraduation programmes like the pharmacy. Examination of many conventional courses had started from March 11 and was held till March 16-- it was stopped from March 17 (when schools and colleges were asked to shut),” he said.

In regards to the examination fee, Kakade stated that either it can be refunded or will be adjusted/carried forward for future examination form process.

He also specified that no student will miss out on the examination process, adding that students who have already submitted the examination forms will be considered later as well. But those who have been unable to fill the form because of suspension of the process will be given a chance to do so after the process resumes, stated Kakade.

For students who have appeared for examination between March 11-16, an appropriate decision regarding their evaluation will be taken by the authority, he informed.
