Pune University to provide an opportunity to pursue a career in the service sectors

Pune: For students aspiring to set foot in the dynamic and varied sector of services, Department of Management Sciences (PUMBA), one of the first management institutes in India, and a pioneer in the field of Management Studies, now also offers Bachelor of Hospitality and Facilities Management (BBA-HFM) degree.

 It is a comprehensive curriculum that aims to help students develop competencies suitable in the fields of Facilities Management, Retail Management, Hospitality Management besides inputs pertaining to general business administration and management. 

“For students who have a liking and aptitude for services, the course provides intensive curriculum backed by strong industry interactions to help students develop key skills needed to start a career in the field of hospitality and facility management, ” said Dr Surbhi Jain, HoD, PUMBA speaking to Sakal Times. 

She further added, “Students will benefit also because BBA (HFM) is one of the few under-graduate programs operating on the campus of Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU)."

SPPU currently features in the top ten Universities of India NIRF rankings 2020. 

BBA(HFM) is a three-year full-time degree course which comprises of 31 courses including fieldwork and project work. The students will get to train in various allied sectors of hospitality and facilities management. Students get hands-on experience in handling events, industry visits and interactions. The course inputs help students to hone their personalities and develop a competitive advantage that holds them in good stead upon attaining the degree. Graduating students can select from an array of work and study opportunities. 

BBA (HFM) degree is open to all students who have passed XII from Science, Commerce, Arts, or Vocational streams with English as a subject can apply for this course. The minimum aggregate marks required are 45 per cent for open category and 40 per cent for reserved category.

The intake capacity for the course is limited and has witnessed a tremendous response in attracting application for the last two years. Admission forms are out for AY 2020-21.
