Pune University asks students to vacate hostel rooms till October 3

Pune: In what can be a worry for the student, the hostel Department of Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) has ordered its last year students to vacate their rooms till October 3. If students fail to vacate the rooms before the specified date, their belongings will be thrown outside, the circular issued by the University reads.

Soon after the notice issued, SPPU Registrar Dr Praful Pawar clarified that the deadline will be extended. He also requested students who can easily come and take away their belongings. Dr Pawar said, “The new hostel admissions will begin soon. The administration needs to get the rooms sanitised. We appeal students to move their belongings at the earliest. If students can’t come till October 3, the deadline may be increased for them.”

Students who already facing multiple such as offline/online mode for final year exams are now worried about the new notice. The circular which was issued on September 25 has also made confusion in the minds of students about the security of their belongings. Many students who are in their hometown since March amid the lockdown have left their belongings here. Many students have left behind their laptops, educational certificates, documents at the hostel rooms.

Most of the students in Pune University hail from different parts of the state including from the districts of Marathwada and Vidarbha. It is not possible for them to collect their belongings and make alternative arrangements soon.
