Pune: Two men duped for Rs three lakh on promise of job in Khadki Cantonment Board, four arrested

Pune: Crime Branch sleuths arrested four men on charges of duping two men by promising them a job in the Khadki Cantonment Board (KCB) as helpers. The incident came to light when one the victim landed at the KCB office with the forged appointment letters handed over by the suspects.

The suspects have been identified as Dayanand Damodar Jadhav (33) of Kachrewadi village at Mangalwedha taluka in Solapur district, Bharat Krishna Kate (39) of Rajuri and Avdhut Tukaram Kashid of Kadlas, both in Sangola taluka of Solapur district and Pramod Bhagwan Gurav (24) from Karad in Satara district. Gurav was arrested after the other three suspects were interrogated and revealed his role in the case. A complaint was filed by the Board’s office superintendent Suja James against the suspects at Khadki police station. Based on this complaint, a case under Sections 465 (punishment for forgery), 467 (forgery of valuable security, will, etc.), 468 (forgery for purpose of cheating), 471 (using forged document as genuine), 420 (cheating) and 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code was registered against the suspects.

Investigations have revealed that Dayanand Jadhav had conspired and with the help of Gurav he has cheated at least four people. They had extracted the logo of KCB from its website using scanning software. No office-bearer of the KCB is involved in this matter, said a police officer from the investigating team. Gurav worked as a labour contractor while Jadhav earlier worked with a private company but had lost his job during the lockdown.

According to police, Tukaram Dhere and Ganesh Akhede, both from Beed district, had paid Rs 3 lakh to Jadhav and Gurav for helping them get them a job at Khadki Cantonment Board as a helper. The suspects had then handed over an appointment letter with forged signatures of KCB Chief Executive Officer Pavan Kumar Singh to Dhere and Akhede.
