Pune: Two arrested on charges of stealing cash from fuel station employees pocket

The incident took place at a fuel station called Roshni Petrol Service Station at North Main road junction in Koregaon Park.

Pune: Alert employees at a fuel station in Koregaon Park managed to nab accomplice of a suspect who stole cash from the pocket of an attendant on Sunday afternoon. Koregaon Park police later nabbed the main suspect and arrested the duo on theft charges. The suspects tried to keep the employees at the fuel station engaged in a chat, but their plans were foiled.

The incident took place at a fuel station called Roshni Petrol Service Station at North Main road junction in Koregaon Park. The Koregaon Park area was less crowded than usual on Sunday afternoon. At about 4 pm on Sunday afternoon, two men on a two-wheeler stopped at the petrol pump to refill their bike's fuel tank. The pillion rider on the bike started chatting with the employee at the pump and was trying to get close to him.

The staff responded cautiously, noticing that the young man was getting too close. But the young man was trying to get closer to the employee by introducing himself. The employee also advised him to stay away. But the suspect started touching the employee's feet. At that moment, he snatched the cash in the employee's pocket and fled from the spot.

Meanwhile, his companion who was on the bike was caught unaware. While he tried to start his bike and run away, the staff came and nabbed him. The staff immediately informed the Koregaon Park police station. The police arrested the two-wheeler driver and interrogated him. At that time, he said that the two were planning to steal money from the petrol pump.

Meanwhile, Police Sub Inspector Rupesh Chaalke immediately took the whereabouts of the suspects and laid a trap at Laxmi Nagar at around 9 pm. The arrested suspects are identified as Majid Akbar Sheikh and Vrishabh Baba Pise, both residents of Yerawada. Koregaon Park police are investigating the case.
