Pune: With total discharge of 8.35 TMC from Khadakwasla cluster, Ujani dam water storage reaches 50 TMC

Pune: The total water discharge into Mutha river basin from Khadakwasla cluster – Temghar, Varasgaon, Panshet and Khadakwasla – has been 8.35 TMC so far which has helped water storage level of Ujani dam in Solapur district reach the 50 TMC mark which is 93 per cent of its total capacity.

The Khadakwasla cluster has Varasgaon, Panshet and Khadakwasla at their 100 per cent capacity while only Temghar dam is about 90 per cent at its total water storage level. The useful storage capacity of all these four dams is 29.15 TMC and at present it is 28.77 TMC. That is, only 0.38 TMC of more water from rainfall in catchment areas is required to fill the remaining fourth dam in the cluster.

The water discharge from Khadakwasla dam has increased since last night. Water is being discharged at 9,416 cusecs in Mutha river basin and 1,054 cusecs in the canal on Saturday (August 29) evening. Discharge from Panshet dam is 3,908 cusecs and from Varasgaon dam is 4,441 cusecs. Incessant rainfall has been reported in the catchment area of the dams. The catchment area of Temghar Dam received 30 mm of rain, Varasgaon received 26 mm, Panshet 24 mm and Khadakwasla dam catchment area received 7 mm during the day on Saturday.

Outside the Khadakwasla cluster, Bhatghar, Nira Devghar, Veer, Mulshi, Kalmodi, Andhra and Nazare dams are full. However, Pimpalgaon Joge, Manikdoh and Visapur dams still have only 30 to 45 per cent water storage.
