Pune: Start survey of Panchavati, Pashan to Paud Road underground link, Deputy CM Ajit Pawar instructs PMC

Pune: Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar has instructed Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) to start the survey work for Panchavati, Pashan to Paud Road underground link on a war-footing basis. The The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has recently given its clearance for the long pending project. This link would reduce traffic burden on Law College road and Shivajianagar area.

Pawar gave these instructions in a meeting organised on Friday and attended by Member of Legislative Assemble Siddharth Shirole, Divisional Commissioner Saurabh Rao, PMC Commissioner Vikram Kumar, District Collector Naval Kishor Ram, Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Commissioner Shravan Hardikar, Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) Commissioner Suhas Divase and other officials.

MLA Shirole had conducted a meeting with DRDO officials last week and had requested them to clear the survey work for the project. In a series of tweets, Shirole updated the developments related to the approval from DRDO.

In his first tweet, Shirole said, "DRDO has granted permission to survey the feasibility of the underground road from Panchavati (Pashan) to SB Road and Paud Road. This approval will give impetus to the work of the new proposed route that is much needed as a long term solution to traffic movement in Shivajinagar."

In the next tweet Shirole has said, "I had conducted an extensive meeting with senior officials of DRDO last week and urged them to expedite granting of permission for the survey. I thank all officials of DRDO for this approval which will give a major boost to feasibility study of the new proposed road."

In the third tweet Shirole informed that "In a review meeting held on Friday, under the chairmanship of Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, all officials were instructed to immediately begin the survey and feasibility study of the much needed underground road from Panchavati (Pashan) to Senapati Bapat Road and Paud Road."
