Pune: SPPU to declare grad and post-grad results by July

Pune: In the first-ever online senate meeting conducted on Thursday, the Savitribai Phule University vice-chancellor Nitin Karmalkar, stated that the university will declare results of graduate and post-graduate courses next month. These results will be declared for those barring the students of the final semester.

While the exams and results were halted for many courses due to the unprecedented lockdown, Karmalkar in the meeting stated that the university was in the process of calculating average marks and will declare results in the month of July.

Due to the coronavirus induced lockdown, the senate meeting conducted to present the university budget for the upcoming year of 2020-21, was also put on hold since March.

But during the meeting on Thursday, the senate members also raised questions about the final fate of backlog students and the syllabus of the exam. During the discussion about the final semester exams, Karmalkar stated that a committee would be formed to look into all these matters.

Adding to the question, senate member Sanjay Kharat said, "If examinations are held, how will they be conducted? What will happen if students opt for average marks instead of appearing for examinations? There are numerous such questions going through students' minds and the anxiety must be put to rest by the university by issuing clear guidelines on all matters related to examinations."

Addressing the senate members, the vice-chancellor assured that all the matters will be looked in to by the committee and a solution will be issued soon. Karmalkar said, "As per the state government's decision, the university has started compiling the results of first and second-year students of conventional courses.  It is important to ensure that the average marking is done without any errors. There is a lot of anxiety regarding final semester results among parents, students and teachers. A committee comprising senior and learned members will be formed to recommend best possible way to go about the process."
