Pune: Son booked for accidental death of mother due to negligent driving

Pune: Dighi police have booked a son on charges of negligent driving and resulting into the accidental death of mother in an accident that took place on Vishrantwadi to Dighi road.

A case has been filed against Sudhir Ramesh Chokhale (45), a resident of Shanti Nagar in Yerawada. His mother Sarita Ramesh Chokhale (65) was seriously injured in the accident and was admitted to a hospital for treatment. She later succumbed to the injuries. Police Havaldar A S Ghogare has filed the complaint in this regard against Sudhir.

According to the complaint, On July 23 at around 8.30pm, Sudhir was riding his bike while taking his mother to home. When they reached near the Kalubai Mandir on Vishrantwadi to Dighi road, Sudhir could not spot a speed breaker on the road. As a result, his bike bumped off the speed-breaker. Sarita Chokhale fell off the bike and sustained serious injuries to her head. She was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment, but later she succumbed to the injuries. Dighi police then registered a case against Sudhir charging him with relevant sections of Motor Vehicle Act for negligent driving and causing the death of Sarita due to it.  

Meanwhile, in an another incident at Wakad, Venugopal Prasad Idnur (29), a resident of Guruwar Peth in Pune died on Monday (July 26) at around 2pm after a car braked suddenly in the middle of the road near Jagtap dairy and as result Idnur’s bike bumped into the car. Idnur received serious injuries to his head, but the unknown car driver fled from the spot.

Another accident was reported from Hinjawadi on Sunday (July 26) in which Ganesh Maruti Kholam (37), a resident of Sukhsagar Nagar in Katraj sustained injuries while his wife died on the spot near Bhumkar chowk after a tempo dashed them from the back side. Tempo driver Rahul Potkule (33) from Shelar Mala in Katraj has been arrested by Hinjawadi police in this case.
