Pune: Shop timings extended in containment zones

Pune: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has extended timings for shops in the containment zone to remain open. As per the new order, shops in containment zones are now allowed to remain open for one hour (5pm to 6pm) in the evening. PMC has also opened up Mandai – the market place located in the heart of the city – by allowing outlets of traders to open alternately on odd-even date basis.

The PMC had allowed shops in containment zones to remain open only for four hours (8am to 12 noon). But with the new orders, PMC has given relaxations to traders in these containment zones whose businesses were affected for the last four months.

PMC has also allowed shops in non-containment zones to remain open on an odd-even basis from 9 am to 7 pm. These new rules will be applicable in the city up to August 31, the PMC order states.

Hawkers, street vendors are now allowed to operate on Shivaji Road, Bajirao Road, Hadapsar-Solapur road, Satara road, Nagar road, Airport road, Sinhgad road, JM road, Paud road and FC road in the city.

PMC Commissioner Vikram Kumar has released these new guidelines on Friday (July 31) which will be effective from August 1 to 31. As per the new guidelines, two persons on a two-wheeler will now be permitted to travel. This permission is conditional as the PMC has made wearing a mask and helmet compulsory for the pillion rider too.

PMC has not changed the limit on the number of persons allowed for functions like marriage or funeral. The number of persons allowed to attend a marriage ceremony is 50 and for funerals the limit is 20, as per the old and new order.

The e-commerce services including food delivery services have also been allowed to resume in the city. Earlier, the food delivery service was not allowed during the period of 10-day strict lockdown.
