Pune: Shiv Sena party workers from Kasba Peth assembly constituency protested against the removal of statue of Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in Belgaum district by the local administration of Karnataka government. The protests were held at Tilak statue junction in Mandai area on Sunday afternoon.
Shiv Sena workers continued with their protests despite heavy rains in Mandai area on Sunday afternoon at around 1pm. Protestors demanded reinstating the statue of Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and raised slogans against the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) which is in power in Karnataka state.
Shiv Sena workers from Kasba Peth assembly constituency had organised these protests in Mandai. Protestors alleged that BJP is using Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s name just to seek votes. The statue should be reinstated exactly at the same place from where it was removed, the protestors demanded. Corporator Vishal Dhanawade warned BJP party office bearers that if the statue is not reinstated then Shiv Sena will do it in its own style.
Shiv Sena party workers raised slogans against BJP party and its government in Karnataka. Gajanan Pandit, Chandan Salunkhe, Rupesh Pawar, Jyotiba Shirke, Nitin Pardeshi, Santosh Bhutkar, Sandeep Gaikwad, Umesh Galinde, Swati Kathalkar, Prasad Kakade, Ravi Nimbalkar, Yogesh Khengare, Nilesh Dhawale, Sunil Gaikwad, Venkatesh Pawar, Vishal Kondhare, Sagar Bhosale, Mukesh Dalvi, Mukund Chavan, Vicky Talekar, Harshad Thakar, Manisha Dharne, Prasad Chawre, Babu Pardeshi, Datta Deshmukh, Kailas Chatander, Hanuman Dagde, Bhau Shinde, Pankaj Baride and other workers participated in the protests.
A political controversy has erupted over the alleged removal of statue of Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in Manguti village in the early hours of Saturday (August 8) by the local administration of Belgaum district in Karnataka. Shiv Sena workers in Kolhapur had carried out demonstrations against the BJP government in Karnataka state on Saturday.
Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut has also challenged BJP’s Devendra Fadnavis, Leader of Opposition in Maharashtra to protest against Karnataka state government and promised him support from the Shiv Sena.
