Pune: A video has been doing rounds in which three persons, including a woman, are seen entering the house of an elderly citizen on the pretext of conducting a house-to-house survey on Covid-19 disease, and later gagging the elderly citizen to commit burglary… This viral video, circulating on WhatsApp, was claimed to be from Raviwar Peth area in Pune city, however, Pune city police have clarified that the video was not from Pune but from Satara's Raviwar Peth area. Faraskhana police station officials have clarified that they will take legal action against people who continue to make this video viral and create unnecessary panic.

Three persons, including a woman, had come to the house of an elderly citizen in Raviwar Peth, of Satara city. They told the elderly citizen that they had come to survey the Covid-19 patients and started asking for information from the elderly citizen. At the same time, they tried to break into the house by stuffing the mouth of the elderly citizen. They also threatened the elderly citizen with a gun. However, when the neighbours saw this happening, they immediately rushed to their aid. The neighbours caught all three suspects and gave them a thrashing. They later informed the police.

Meanwhile, all this happened in Raviwar Peth of Satara city. In spite of this, the video went viral, giving free advice to the people of Pune to be careful, stating that the women seen in the video was from Raviwar Peth of Pune city.

In this regard, senior police inspector Jagannath Kalaskar of Faraskhana police station said, “The incident did not take place in Pune city. Our investigations revealed that the location where this incident took place was in the Satara city area. Many citizens approached us to verify its authenticity. Citizens should not believe such rumours. Don't try to make such videos or photos viral without any confirmation. Also, action will be taken against those who made the video viral in this regard in Pune city.”
