Pune: Rotary Club of NIBM builds retiring room for Wanawadi police station

Pune: Rotary Club of Pune NIBM (RCPMIBM), handed over the 10th Infrastructure for Women Police (IWP) project, of fully equipped retiring rooms with crèche for Women Police at Wanwadi Police station on Monday. The Deputy Commissioner of Police, (Zone V) Suhas Bawche inaugurated the project.


Deputy commissioner of police (DCP) Suhas Bawche was the guest of honour along with the past District Governor, Mohan Palesha who presided over the function. The event also saw the presence of Santosh Joshi MD of Nelson Global Products India, who funded this project under their CSR initiative, Rtn. 

The function was also attended by Shiv Prasad the President of RCPNIBM, Rtn. Nikhil Jadhav Secretary of RCPNIBM and Senior Police Inspector Krantikumar Patil in-charge of Wanawadi Police Station. It was also attended by the members of RCPNIBM and the entire police staff of Wanawadi Police Station.

Chief Guest DCP Bawche highly appreciated the project done by  RCPNIBM. DCP Bawche said, "police are working round the clock and on duty 24 by 7 on duty in festivals and emergencies with stress, tension, hardship and with many problems. This facility will give them comforts and relief that their work is been noticed."

The unique initiative undertaken by Rotary Club of Pune NIBM has involved duly furnished room with six bunk beds, nine locker facility, full height mirror, ladies washroom, one dressing table, writing table and chairs exclusively for women police at Wanwadi Police station. This would provide women in police service with a much-needed place to rest.

PDG Mohan Palesha appreciated the work done by RCPNIBM and also thanked Nelson Products for their financial support. He said Rotary does unique projects, with great sensitivity, towards the society.

Shiv Prasad said that "our club did a survey in 2014 and found that Ladies police have to face many challenges like toilet, dress changing, rest, child care etc., and hence it took up this as our club's Signature Project. This Retiring Room has been provided as a social responsibility. Rotary has planned to build 33 Retiring Rooms for all Police Stations in Pune Police Commissioner under this project. So far we have completed ten projects. These projects have been highly appreciated by the Police as well as the Corporate Community around Pune. Shiv Prasad highly appreciated Nelson Global Products India Private Limited for funding this project and other projects for the last five years."
