Pune: Retired policemen receive an online farewell

Pune: While the world embraces online platforms to celebrate birthdays, convocations, classes and exams. Pune police officials received their farewell ceremony through online medium. 

Till date, these police officials were struggling to keep their city safe irrespective of time, weather and other conditions. Despite being on the verge of retirement, they fought hard against COVID-19 contagion. 

Today these 36 police fighters with tears in their eyes and pride in their hearts attended the online farewell ceremony. 

The online ceremony was held on Tuesday for retired police officers and staff from the city police force. The Commissioner of Police Dr K. Venkatesh, Joint Commissioner of Police Dr Ravindra Shiswe also attended the event through online medium. 

A total of 36 police officers and staff including one Assistant Police Commissioner of Police, three Inspectors of Police, two-Sub Inspectors of Police and 30 police personnel retired. 

The Commissioner of Police, Dr Venkatesh had begun arranging a farewell function at the commissioner office every month to offer wishes to retired policemen. Police families are also being invited to the event. However, the event was cancelled due to COVID-19 crisis. 

Instead of a public event on Tuesday, it was preferred to greet retired police officers online. For this, an online communication app was used. Retired police personnel and their families were also involved in the initiative.

Retired Senior Inspector of Police Bhagwat Misal from Khadki Police Station, Assistant Inspectors of Police Chipade, Shinde, Darde from Wireless Message Department, Administrative Officer Akoskar expressed their views in a representative manner. Deputy Commissioner of Police Virendra Mishra, Deputy Commissioner of Police Swapna Gore, Assistant Commissioner of Human Research Department Satish Govekar were present.
