Pune: Residents from housing society pelt stones at Rising Medicare Hospital in Kharadi

Pune: Some unidentified persons pelted stones at Rising Medicare Hospital in Kharadi. The hospital management has alleged that the residents of a housing society behind the hospital are responsible for the act.

The hospital has suffered losses as the window glass of the hospital building has broken. A complaint has been filed against stone-pelters at Chandan Nagar police station. The alleged incident took place on Monday afternoon. Fortunately, no one was injured in the stone-pelting incident.

The hospital-based at Kharadi treats COVID-19 patients from the city. The patients who are admitted for treatment in the hospital are mostly suffering due to shortness of breath and hence they require oxygen support. For providing oxygen support to patients, the hospital requires oxygen cylinders. For this purpose, the oxygen cylinders are being brought from outside to the hospital. The tempo which carries these cylinders comes at the hospital gate at least four times a day.

On Monday afternoon, a resident on the second floor of the building behind the hospital threw a flowerpot on the tempo standing below. Fortunately, no one was injured in this incident, but the tempo was damaged. Later, residents staying on the first floor of the building pelted stones on the window glass of the hospital.
Chandan Nagar Police station in-charge Senior Police Inspector, Shankar Khatke has informed the hospital that the person who threw stones and caused damage to the hospital has been arrested.

Dr Shweta Bharati informed, "COVID-19 patients are receiving treatment since June month at the hospital. Some patients are suffering from shortness of breath and they require immediate oxygen support. The transporting of these oxygen cylinders may create some noise during the day time. Our staff could have got injured in the flowerpot throwing incident, but fortunately, they escaped unhurt. With stones being pelted at the window glass, the hospital has suffered financial loss."
