Pune region ranks sixth for tax collection

PUNE: Pune region has been ranked sixth for the collection of Income Tax during the financial year 2018-19 in the country. 

The region has collected Rs 57,500 crore in taxes, which is Rs 6,000 crore more than the previous financial year 2017-18. 

As per the I-T Department, there are as many as 76 lakh taxpayers in Pune region.

The number is more than double from five years back. 

Five years ago, there were around 31 lakh taxpayers in Pune region. 

As of today, the region has recorded 14 per cent growth in tax collection. In the all-India ranking, Mumbai is first, followed by Delhi, Bangalore, Chennai and Hyderabad. 

However, talking about the Pune region added over 8 lakh new taxpayers till January 2019.

‘INCOME TAX DAY’
On the occasion of ‘Income Tax Day’, the Department is organising several events. On July 23, a marathon has been organised from I-T Office at Bodhi Tower to I-T office at Sadhuvaswani Chowk. On July 24, three speakers - Bariatric Surgeon Dr Jayashree Todkar, Diabetologist Dr Pramod Tripathi and Life Coach Narendra Goidani - will deliver the speeches.
