Pune: Pune reported day temperature at 39.7 degree Celsius on Monday, so far the season's hottest, while the night temperature was 22.3 degree Celsius. The day temperature was 2.1 degree Celsius more than normal. In contrast, the night temperature was 2.4 degrees more than usual, as per the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
On April 5, Pune reported 39.3 degree Celsius. On Monday, the highest maximum temperature reported in Maharashtra was at 43.8 degree Celsius at Akola.
As per predictions made by the weather department, Vidarbha may experience light rain with thunderstorms till April 17.
Whereas during the same time, Madhya Maharashtra and Marathwada will remain dry.
As earlier reported, the summer months in Maharashtra are expected to be harsh with day temperature up to one degree Celsius above normal in the next three months. As per the India Meteorological Department, there is a 40 per cent probability of above-normal maximum temperatures in the Core Heat Wave (HW) areas that include Maharashtra.
National scenario
The highest maximum temperature across the plains was reported at 44.3 degree Celsius at Hoshangabad in west Madhya Pradesh on Monday. The heatwave conditions were observed at isolated places over Saurashtra and Kutch as per IMD.
Thunderstorm accompanied with lightning, hail and squall are very likely at isolated places over Assam, Meghalaya till April 15. Also, lightning and squalls are predicted over Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura during the same time.
