Pune records the highest March temp since 2008

PUNE: Pune city recorded day temperature on Monday at 40.2 degrees Celsius. According to the data provided by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), it is the highest temperature in the month of March since 2008. The highest temperature in the State on Monday was recorded at Amravati at 41.6 degrees Celsius.

Many other cities in Maharashtra also recorded temperature above 40 degrees. Santacruz in Mumbai reported 40.3 degree Celsius on Monday. IMD has forecast dry weather in the State till March 29. Pune city will experience day temperature around 39 degree Celsius in the coming week. 

On Monday, the highest maximum temperature was at 41.5 degrees Celsius at Gulbarga in Karnataka. The lowest minimum temperature was 12 degrees Celsius at Amritsar in Punjab and at Mandla in Madhya Pradesh.

The IMD has forecasted that till March 27, thunderstorm accompanied with squall and lightning will occurat isolated places very likely over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura. During the same time, a thunderstorm very likely over Gangetic West Bengal, Odisha, coastal Karnataka and Kerala is predicted.
