Pune to receive heavy rains over next two days

On one side, people in Pune are locked inside their homes amid the novel coronavirus lockdown and now it seems there is one more reason that Punekars will be asked to stay inside.

Meteorological Department has forecasted heavy rains in next four days. According to the weather forecast, most of the places might witness light to medium scale rain. Met department signalled that Wednesday may witness heavy winds and intense-medium scale rain. For the next 3 days, the sky will remain cloudy with extra-humidity in the atmosphere.

There is a belt of low pressure have been formed on Lakshadweep Islands in the Arabian Sea which might transform into a cyclone within the next 24 hours. Later they might travel to the northern side towards the coastal line of Maharashtra and Gujarat.  Therefore, Pune and other cities of the state will have cloudy weather with heavy winds and might witness an intense-medium type of rain in the afternoon.

“On June 3, this cyclone might hit the state’s coastal line causing thundering of clouds and intense-medium rain in the state”, said the senior scientist Dr Anupam Kahyapi.

PRE-MONSOON RAINS IN CITY

Pune received some relaxation from the scorching heat as the city received rain post-afternoon on Sunday. City’s western part witnessed light to medium type of rain. Next three days, the city may witness weather contrast of heat in the afternoon and rain in the evening.

MONSOON TO ENTER KERALA

Monsoon is expected to enter Kerala today, informed Meteorological department. This weather is good for Monsoon’s movements and the department is observing all the activities carefully.
