Pune Railway Division closes one entry gate

PUNE: The Pune Railway Division has closed one of its entry-exit gates at the front. At present, six gates out of seven are open for entry of vehicles and passengers.

According to an official of the Pune Railway Division, “The gate was being used by pedestrians but it was closed a week ago.”

The Pune Junction has four gates in the front and two at the back. A main entrance and a ramp constructed two years back is being used by all vehicles.

There is one entry for passengers from the parcel side too. The two exit points at the front are used by vehicles using the premium parking facility and cab services like Ola and Uber.

“The ramp at entry gate with double width and in line with the road came into existence in lieu of Gate 3 with the aim to smoothen the flow of vehicles. Most of the passengers arrive in vehicles. The parking lots are always full. There is a lane for Ola and Uber and private vehicles for pick up and drop. However, the closing gate was causing inconvenience,” said a senior officer of the Pune Railway Division.

“From a security point of view, four gates and a subway, ie five entries are available on Aga Khan Road and three entry points from Raja Bahadur Mill Road via a ramp, escalator and stairs,” said the officer.
