Pune: Crime Branch sleuths have arrested the prime suspect involved in the beating up and robbing off a married man seeking a gay relationship with another suspect. The prime suspect has been identified as Jatin Santosh Pawar (18), a resident of Mahadev Nagar, Takle Chawl, Charwada chowk in Manjari.
Police constable Sachin Jadhav from Unit 1 of Pune Police Crime Branch received a tip-off that Pawar was arriving at a tea stall in Upper Indira Nagar in Bibwewadi. Accordingly, a team of Police Sub Inspectors Sanjay Gaikwad and Hanumant Shinde and police personnel Sachin Jadhav, Sanjay Barkade, Prashant Gaikwad, Irfan Momin, Shrikant Waghwale and Baba Chavan set a trap near the bus stand at Upper Indiranagar on Monday (August 31) evening.
After a while, the police team deployed there detained a young man who was strolling there suspiciously. After questioning him, he admitted that he had conspired with his accomplice Mahesh Warbhuvan and other accomplices. He also confessed to being the mastermind of the crime. He was handed over to Sinhagad police for further investigation.
A 34-year-old married man from Dhayari seeking gay relationship was beaten up and robbed by four suspects after threatening to make his video viral. The man and the suspects were introduced to each other through a mobile application for gays. The incident took place on August 9 in Dhayari area, but the complainant fearing defamation of family lodged the complaint late.
The victim had got married a few years back. A few days ago, he had downloaded a mobile app seeking a gay relationship. The complainant started chatting with unknown persons on the app. One day he received a friend request from a man named Ravi who gave him the address of a room in the Nanded village area to meet.
The complainant had gone to the said location in Chavan Nagar area of Nanded on August 9. While they were making out, three people barged into the room. The complainant was then beaten up and threatened with a sword. The suspects then took the gold and silver locket from the complainant and also got Rs 61,000 transferred from Paytm and Google Pay accounts.
