Pune Police seize 182 vehicles for breaking lockdown rules

“We have seized 182 vehicles till now. Action is also being taken against petrol pump for providing petrol to vehicle for non-essential work. Now we are in critical phase”, Venkatesham tweeted.

PUNE: A total of 182 vehicles have been seized after people violated lockdown rules, said Police Commissioner Dr K Venkatesham. Cases have been registered against seven petrol pumps.

He appealed people to stay at home and not to use vehicles for non-essential work. “We have seized 182 vehicles till now. Action is also being taken against petrol pump for providing petrol to vehicle for non-essential work. Now we are in critical phase”, Venkatesham tweeted.

Giving details of lockdown enforcement, he said that police is engaged in public awareness campaigns, digital enforcement through CCTV, video footage, digital pass with QR code at nakabandi points and now drones are also being used to keep watch on people.

“And of course punitive cases against extra smart violators”, Venkatesham said in his tweet.
