PUNE: In the last two days since the lockdown began due to the novel coronavirus pandemic, Pune city police received 17,479 messages, calls from people requesting movement passes and other queries.
Pune Police has set up a dedicated Grievance Redressal Team comprising of six staff in the day and two staff at night to address concerns of citizens regarding 144 CrPC orders, vehicular permissions, exemptions etc.,
DCP (crime branch) Bachchan Singh, who is supervising the team, said that about 50 per cent requests were from people who required medical help, while 20 per cent were from hospital staffs for their movements. Senior citizens and students formed five per cent each, who had issues related to food, caretakers.
Apart from WhatsApp, police had received about 5,000 messages on Twitter and 233 emails from companies.

Regarding grievance redressal of companies/industries who have been exempted under lockdown orders, their requests are being taken through email (firstname.lastname@example.org) and digital permits are being issued.
